Atonement, a film adaptation of the brilliant novel by Ian McEwan, is a romantic drama set in the years preceding and during World War II. The Warlords is an epic movie set during China’s imperial past. Therefore, you can expect many battle scenes, intense fight sequences, grand sweeping shots of the battlefield, and references to China’s grand history. What sets this movie apart from other similar tales such as Hero and Curse of the Golden Flower is the director’s focus on the characterizations of the 3 main characters, the blood brothers.
